Why Say No to Caffeinated Coffee in the Morning, and Other Health Isssues

I know, hot steaming coffee that bursts its aroma is so tempting in the morning, and even in the afternoon. But watch out what kind of coffee you're taking. According to experts, caffeinated coffee makes you fat. First, it's supposed to damage your blood glucose homeostasis or how your body balances sugar in your blood, and second, it upsets how your body takes care of the carbs you eat in the morning.

Well, carbs in the morning in sufficient amounts is supposed to be good for you, giving you energy to last the rest of the day. Your body system is excited to function in the morning and easily takes care of carbs, easily turning them into burned fuel to make you active. But not with caffeinated coffee which neutralizes all that carb burning activity.

And if you don't use your carbs well, it's going to make you fat. Simple as that. It may even have a bad effect on insulin sensitivity, health experts add.

I love the smell and flavor of coffee but I very, very seldom drink one. I used to drink purple corn coffee, and today I take Vital-C Ipoh White coffee now and then, sweetened with Stevia and rich in fish collagen--very healthy. It also has grape seed extracts. Anyway, I like taking fresh fruit juices better than coffee, or if I want something hot and steaming I take chocolate drinks, like Ovaltine or Milo. I love them especially with milk.

But mind you, these chocolate health drinks are fattening. I take them because I workout regularly and the energy I get from them I use immediately for my active life. If you're idle and inactive, I dissuade you from taking any fattening chocolate drink. And anyway, I just take them now and then. What I really love drinking are soya beverages.

Again, some health reports say that too much soya is bad for health. So, monitor your soya intake. I take taho (a soya curd derivative) every other day and only in minimal amounts. I used to take 3 glassfuls of it daily, but not anymore--just to play it safe. But to be sure, soya is good for the health. Anything healthy taken in right amounts remains healthy. Even Vital-C.

Vital-C should be taken at least 3 to 5 times a day, if you're healthy. If you have an ailment to get rid of, you should be taking more.

Now, back to coffee--if you don't have any choice but take caffeinated coffee--like for instance, it's super cold and nothing's available except hot caffeinated coffee--then I suggest you also take 4 capsules of Vital-C with it, to counter its health ill effects. But take Vital-C an hour before the hot coffee, okay?

I often do that--I mean, when you're out of the house, you're often left with no choice but to eat unhealthy food--like fatty food. When I have to do that, I close my eyes and eat (and enjoy) and later take 3 or 4 capsules of Vital C, or earlier before the meal.

Thus, I have a blister of Vital-C always with me handy wherever I go. You never know when you're going to need a counter measure to save your health.
