How to Cut on Rice Gradually and Safely: And Gain a Leaner Body!

blogs.discovermagazine.com
More people are discovering the disadvantages of eating rice and are looking for ways to cut on it. Some commit the grave mistake of cutting it straightway and suffering the withdrawal symptoms (trembling, severe weakness, and even a dangerous drop in blood sugar).

Well, of course my blog espouses no dieting of any kind and still get slim and fit. But the idea is only to substitute rice with another carbo source that has less tendency to build up flab around the tummy. And anyway, you may eat sweet potatoes or corn all you want! No dieting. Just eat. See?

So, here are tips on how to cut on rice gradually and safely:
  • Start with eating a small cup of rice each meal.
  • After 3 to 6 months, start with half cup each meal.
  • After 3 months, try no rice during supper. Substitute with corn or sweet potato.
  • After 3 months, eat a cup of rice only during breakfast. Eat corn or sweet potato instead of rice for lunch and supper.
  • After 3 months, eat half cup of rice for breakfast and corn or sweet potato for other meals.
  • After 3 months, get rid of rice totally.
If you do the above, remember to eat more nutritious viand each phase--more vegetables, fish, lean meat, and fruits. And especially as the phase becomes rice-less, eat in between meals if need be--nutritious food like vegetables and fruits, yogurt, white cheese, and root crops. Bread is a no-no.

I'm enjoying sweet potatoes so much and sayote. I also enjoy saba (a type of banana) as among my carbo sources. But limit yourself to 4 or 5 bananas a day.

Excuses

Even if you can eat a meal without rice, it's not bad to have rice once in a while, especially if you eat out and there's no sweet potatoes or corn available. Eat a cup of rice and plenty of nutritious viands. I eat rice once in a while and still be able to eat with zero rice on other meals.

Why Eliminate Rice?

Eliminating rice is just optional. Make sure to consult with your medical doctor on this before doing it, especially before doing the above rice schedules. But in case you want to get rid of your tummy flabs (rice and other carbo is the great culprit here), you may want to get rid of rice from your diet. If so, get your doctor's approval first and do it slowly.

And you probably need more organic vitamins and minerals as I'm doing. VITAL P PLUS is a complete source of organic vitamins and minerals with "P" as in permeability or the capacity to absorb the nutrients in your body. I'm allergic to all synthetic vitamins and minerals but not VITAL P PLUS. And the permeability feature makes sure you get everything.
